Shohag Barman was born in Mymensingh on 25 November 1988 and has been living in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. He obtained a B.S. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Chittagong, Chittagong, Bangladesh. He held academic positions at The Millennium University, Dhaka, Bangladesh and the University of Science and Technology Chittagong, Chittagong, Bangladesh.
In September 2013, he began working toward an integrated Master's and a Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering at the University of Ulsan, South Korea. Since then, he started to conduct research in Complex Systems Computing Lab, and his research interests include Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. During his Ph.D. study, he published his research works at the topmost journals (i.e. Bioinformatics, PLoS ONE) in his research areas. One of his research works was accepted for presentation in a prestigious conference ECCB 2018 and inclusion in the Journal Bioinformatics. He also joined and presented his research work at the ECCB 2018 in GREECE, which is the largest and most high profile annual meeting of scientists in the field of Computational Biology.
He received a Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Ulsan on August 16, 2019. His Ph.D. dissertation research focused on developing software tools to infer a Boolean network from time-series gene expression data using information theory, optimization algorithm, and machine learning algorithm. He is working now as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at American Internation University-Bangladesh(AIUB), Dhaka, Bangladesh.
